Site Promises
This site promises you access to some long movies. At the time I reviewed the site the tour was listing movies up to almost 30 minutes in length and by the images on the tour it looks as though these are going to be very high quality movies.
Carla does tell prospective members that each update includes video and images and the video comes in three sizes to cater for various connection speeds. And apart from what I’ve just mentioned the site doesn’t say much else about what it promises to give its members.
First Impressions
Hmmm the members’ homepage is definitely different to anything you might find on other sites. There isn’t an image or a thumbnail in sight, it’s all text. Now I’m not saying that’s a bad thing – it’s just unusual.
The members’ homepage also tells you that a new video is added every three days and it also provides links to all other parts of the site and a link that lets you contact Carla personally. In fact she invites members to email her and ask her questions about the site or even personal questions too.
Impressions
The main link to follow on the members’ homepage is the one labeled ‘Video Page’. At the other end of that link all the movies are listed and, at the time I visited the site, the link extended across 18 pages with links to 10 movies appearing on each page.
Those links to each movie consist of six big thumbnails that give you a clear idea of what you are going to see in that particular movie. Click on any of those links and you get taken to a full page that focuses just on that movie.
Each of the movie pages includes around 15 thumbs that lead to corresponding big picture. ‘Big’ is a relative term and these pictures are not all that big at all. They’re all around 600 pixels on the longest side and each big picture is a screen shot taken from the video. That means that the quality is not all that good although they certainly are worth looking at.
Obviously though the focus of this site is the video content and I guess that’s obvious from the title. And the site certainly seems to go all out to make the videos user-friendly for members.
Each video is offered in two formats – Mpeg and WMV – and three file sizes. Members can choose to download or stream low quality WMV clips. The length and file size of the clip depends on the length of the movie and there is at least one movie in the site that is almost an hour long.
The next option is medium quality clips in Mpeg format that can be streamed or downloaded and here each file is around the same length as the WMV clips but the file size goes up considerably. The final option is the full-length movie in high quality Mpeg format that can only be downloaded.
So with all that in mind I set about streaming one of the medium quality clips and the streaming was really very jerky on my mid-range DSL connection. The screen size was quite small too.
When I tried streaming the low quality WMV clip I found that it played quite smoothly and there were no buffering delays but the screen size was small. The quality is definitely not good enough to allow you to kick the embedded player up to full-screen size either.
Right clicking on the link provided to download a clip brought a medium sized clip down quite quickly. It played in a much bigger screen size but it did not make the translation to full-screen mode either. At full screen the image was blocky and fuzzy and not worth watching in full-screen mode.
I wasn’t prepared to try downloading a full-length movie because the movie that was almost an hour long was going to take just on four hours to download. It would have been nice to have the full movie but I didn’t have the time spare. I guess I could have downloaded it overnight but for various reasons that just wasn’t an option for me.
Of course that doesn’t help you if you’re one of those who, like me, would rather have the full movie instead of a bunch of short clips. But the site does offer members a link to a free download of some software that will join movie clips so you can download the clips and still get the full-length movie
After watching a good sample of the clips from various movies I can say that the action you will see here certainly is raw and real. It passed my wet pussy test so it certainly is hardcore enough to satisfy anyone who likes to see nasty shemale action.
While the movies were certainly hardcore the overall quality of the videos was a little lacking. The lighting was not good and some of the action in all of the clips I saw tended to be lost in the shadows. Some of the camera angles weren’t the best either and in the clips that I watched the camera sometimes seemed to be caught on the wrong side of the action.
That’s something that probably reflects the amateur nature of this site. In lots of ways the polish that you might find on other shemale sites and what the tour might have suggested just isn’t here but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should not join this site.
What the site might lack in polish it more than makes up for with its nasty hardcore action and it certainly doesn’t hold back with the content. Updates every three days is not something that you find on every shemale site.
Members also get access to two bonus sites but be warned, these open as popups and so you may find that Internet Explorer wants to block them. Unblocking them is quite a simple matter and as soon as you do you will have access to Shemales on Chicks and Tranny Beach. Those two sites are certainly worth seeing and add real value to your membership in Hot Shemale Videos.
Navigation around the site is really very easy and you won’t have any problems finding your way around. There is even a ‘Help� page that does a great job of explaining how to get the best out of the site.
Conclusion
This site is another one of those that’s difficult to call. It deals in content that is usually presented with an emphasis on quality and yet the quality is missing from this site. Right now I’m letting one of the clips I downloaded play on the other screen and the image is dark and lacks sharpness. Some of that, as I said before, is caused by poor lighting but the lark of sharpness could have been fixed during post production but hasn’t been.
Obviously the site is run by an amateur who does a very good job of presenting a site that is full of nasty hardcore content but somehow I can’t help but think that the site is a little over-priced for what members get. But that’s a personal point of view and you might see the site in an entirely different light.
Ultimately the call on value is yours to make because it may represent great value to you.
